West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has turned down CM Mamata Banerjee's request to postpone his visit to strife-hit Murshidabad. "I will certainly visit Murshidabad. I will go to the field to see for myself the realities. I will have an objective view of the matter. The situation has been brought under control. We should take further steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future. People from the area have requested a BSF camp there," HT quoted Bose as saying.

CM Banerjee requested Governor Bose to “allow some more time before intervening" and apprised him that an SIT was probing the matter.

“A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the situation in Murshidabad. I request that no one visit the area for now. I will also request the Governor to allow some more time before intervening. Our Women’s Commission had also expressed interest in visiting, but I have advised them to wait for a few days,” Mamata had said.

The governor’s office said Bose will reach Murshidabad on Thursday night and is expected to visit violence-hit areas on Friday morning.
