Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0: The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi two months ago, and on November 20, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram launched the program in the city. According to MCG Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg, the civic body will soon start accepting online applications from those who are homeless.

He said that not only BPL but other middle class families will also be able to apply in this scheme. For this, the central government has addressed a letter to all of the state's local corporations. He stated that the process of accepting applications will begin soon.

The Municipal Commissioner stated that some criteria have also been established for the Central Government's PM Awas Yojana Part-2 (PM Awas 2.0 scheme launched).

He stated that the PMAY-U 2.0 project will be combined with the affordable housing scheme, in which a portion of the flats built by private builders will be reserved and allocated to the homeless in Gurugram.

Those with plots of 120 sq m or less will also be eligible for an interest subsidy on a housing loan of up to Rs 1.8 lakh. This subsidy will also be relevant to the allocation of units.

According to Garg, middle-class families earning less than Rs 9 lakh per year will also be eligible to enroll under this initiative.

PM Awas Yojana 2.0 Portal To Be Launched Soon

The Municipal Commissioner stated that applications for the plan will be accepted solely online. Eligible applicants will apply online through the Central Government portal. The portal will be launched shortly. He stated that, according to government requirements, the Aadhar cards of the applicant's family members must be linked to the a mobile device.
