The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, a major agricultural initiative set to benefit farmers in 100 districts, with an annual outlay of Rs 24,000 crore. The scheme was initially announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the presentation of the Union Budget 2025–26.

"Through the convergence of existing schemes and specialised measures, the programme will cover 100 districts with low productivity, moderate crop intensity and below-average credit parameters," the finance minister had announced during the budget.

Aim To Launch PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana

The programme aims to boost agricultural productivity, promote crop diversification, and encourage sustainable farming practices. According to government estimates, it is expected to benefit around 1.7 crore farmers across the country.

What Is PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana?

The Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana is an ambitious district-focused initiative launched by the Central Government to enhance irrigation, improve soil fertility, and support farmers through the provision of quality seeds and fertilisers. The scheme targets infertile, barren, and underdeveloped agricultural land to boost cultivation and provide comprehensive assistance to farmers.

Implemented in collaboration with state governments, the scheme will integrate existing agricultural programs for more effective delivery. It will cover 100 districts identified by their below-average agricultural indicators, including moderate crop intensity and low productivity.
