PM Kisan Yojana 21st Instalment: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 21st instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme on November 19, the Union agriculture ministry said in a statement on Friday. Under the scheme, eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually, transferred directly into their bank accounts in three instalments.

The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana, launched on February 24,2019, is a central sector scheme designed to offer financial support to land-owning farmer families across the country. The upcoming instalment marks another phase of the government’s ongoing effort to provide reliable income assistance to farmers.

Over Rs 3.70 Lakh Crore Distributed So Far

According to the ministry, more than Rs 3.70 lakh crore has been disbursed so far through 20 instalments to over 11 crore farmer families. The funds have helped beneficiaries purchase agricultural inputs and meet essential household expenses such as education, healthcare and marriage-related needs.

Eligibility Linked To Land Records and Aadhaar

To receive the benefits, farmers must have their land records updated on the PM-KISAN portal and their bank accounts linked with Aadhaar. The Centre has also carried out several village-level drives to identify and verify all eligible cultivable land-owning farmers who have not yet been included in the scheme.

New Farmer Registry Initiative Launched

The ministry highlighted that the government continues to prioritise last-mile delivery of the scheme, making sure that eligible households are not left out. As part of these efforts, a new initiative has been launched to create a comprehensive farmer registry, which will serve as a verified database for different welfare programmes. The government expects that this streamlined system will reduce paperwork and make it easier for farmers to access benefits.

Study Shows Scheme Boosts Rural Economy

A study conducted in 2019 by the International Food and Policy Research Institute assessed the early impact of PM-KISAN. The report suggested that the financial assistance provided through the scheme strengthened rural economic activity, helped ease farmers’ credit-related challenges and supported increased investment in farm inputs.

With the 21st instalment set to be released on November 19, the government says the PM-KISAN scheme will continue to play a key role in supporting agricultural households across India.
