PM Modi's Speech: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his reply to the motion of thanks to the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, took a jibe at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, urging him to sit and raise anti-government slogans, considering his age. When PM Modi started his speech in the Upper House, Kharge and other Congress MPs resorted to raising anti-government slogans - "LoP ko bolne do" and "tanashahi nahi chalegi", prompting the prime minister to react.

"Looking at the age of Kharge ji, I urge you, the Chairman, to let him sit and sloganeer so that he faces no discomfort. There are young people at the back. So, please permit Kharge ji to sloganeer even while sitting," said PM Modi after Opposition MPs created a ruckus in the Rajya Sabha.

BJP Leader Pradeep Bhandari, in an X post said, "A clear display of leadership, restraint, and democratic maturity by PM @narendramodi Ji. Even in disruption, he demonstrated how institutions must be respected and proceedings must continue. The contrast is clear between a dynast mindset led by Rahul Gandhi focused on entitlement and a pradhan sevak focused on duty, people, and democracy."

Disrespecting People Of The Country Seems To Be Ingrained In Congress: PM Modi

Disrespecting the people of the country seems to be ingrained in the Congress party’s behaviour and culture. In recent days, the Congress has insulted the President, PM Modi said, adding that the language used for our President after the elections is shameful and disturbing.

"One wonders what kind of people say such things about the President of India. Even yesterday in the Lok Sabha, a discussion on the President’s Address could not take place. This amounts to an insult to the office of the President. Those who behave in this manner have no moral right to speak the word ‘Constitution.’ When a woman who has risen from poverty, who comes from a tribal family, is treated in the way she was in the Lok Sabha, it is not just an insult to her. It is an insult to the tribal community, an insult to women, an insult to the Constitution, and an insult to the highest constitutional office of this country,” PM Modi said.

Members of the Congress and INDIA bloc erupted in coordinated sloganeering, chanting "Tanashahi nahi, Indira ji ka apmaan nahi sahenge" and "Leader of the Opposition ko bolne do", demanding that Rahul Gandhi be allowed to speak without curbs in the Lok Sabha.

Opposition's protest stemmed out from the Lok Sabha, where the LoP, Rahul Gandhi was repeatedly face disruption when he refered to an unpublished book of former Army Chief General MM Naravane, raising the India-China border issue during his speech.
