Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav for making a fresh quota pitch for Muslims, saying the INDI Alliance cannot see beyond "appeasement". Speaking at a public rally in Madhya Pradesh, PM Modi berated the INDI Alliance for Lalu Prasad's "reservation must for Muslims" statement and said that those who were in jail till some time ago are now rallying behind religion-based reservation.

"One big leader of INDI Alliance, who was in jail for corruption and recently came out on bail due to health reasons, said today that Muslims should be given full reservation," PM Modi said, responding to Lalu Prasad's statement as quoted by news agency IANS.

He also said that Lalu Prasad's statement has exposed the INDI Alliance.

"He (Lalu Prasad) said that full reservation should go to Muslims. It means whatever reservations SC/ST and OBC communities have, they want to take that away and give to the Muslims," PM Modi told the gathering.

PM Modi added that the INDI Alliance is saying such things because they are relying on minorities for their vote bank.

Later, the RJD chief responded and said that reservation is given on the basis of social backwardness and not on religion basis and further claimed that it was he who implemented the Mandal Commission.

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reiterated on Tuesday that Prime Minister Modi is also saying that the parties of the INDIA bloc will try to make a dent in the reservation of Dalits, STs, and OBCs.

RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav came out in support of the Muslim quota, saying that they should get the reservation.

Speaking to ANI, the former CM said, "Muslims should get reservations (reservation toh milna chahiye Musalmano ko, pura'...)."

His statement came after Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing a rally in Bihar's Ujiyarpur on Monday, alleged that the Congress gave reservations to Muslims by reducing the quota for SCs, STs, and OBCs in Karnataka and Andhra.
