PM Modi Srinagar Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir and reached the union territory at nearly 6 PM. Security has been tightened in the wake of his visit to Sri Nagar for Yoga Day celebrations. Notably, this will be his first visit to Jammu & Kashmir ever since he assumed office for a third term.

Speaking at the event, he said that the whole world is witnessing the changes in the Kashmir Valley. He also mentioned the G20 event in the valley and said that the people of other countries who came during the summit also praised Kashmir.

"The whole world is witnessing the changes in Kashmir Valley...Humara Kashmir kitna aage badh gaya hai'...You will see that International Yoga Day celebration will also become an attraction for tourists," PM Modi said as quoted by news agency ANI.

He further added that the last decade of the last century has seen a long period of unstable governments adding that the elections were held 5 times in 10 years. He said that this because of this this instability and uncertainty, the country suffered a lot.

"Leaving that period behind, now India has entered a new era of stable government. This has strengthened our democracy. Jammu and Kashmir have played a very big role in strengthening democracy," he added.

He also praised the youths of Jammu and Kashmir for the high turnout in the recently-concluded Lok Sabha polls and said they have ensured victory of democracy.

PM Modi said the wall of Article 370, which was scrapped in August 2019, collapsed and fruits of the Indian Constitution ensured in Jammu and Kashmir.

"The Centre has taken the recent terror attacks very seriously. The home minister held a meeting and reviewed the entire mechanism. I want to assure that we will leave no stone unturned to punish the enemies of Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

The Prime Minister will participate in the 'Empowering Youth, Transforming J-K' programme focussing on youth-led development later in the evening. During his visit, he will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Leaving for Srinagar, where I will be taking part in two programmes. Later this evening, I will be at the 'Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K' programme, which focuses on youth-led development. Key projects worth over Rs. 1500 crore will be inaugurated or their foundation stones would be laid. These works cover infrastructure, water supply, education and more. Tomorrow morning, I will take part in the Yoga Day programme in Srinagar," the Prime Minister said in a post on 'X'.

On June 20, PM Modi will participate in the 'Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K' event at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar. The event "Empowering Youth, Transforming J&K" is a pivotal moment for the region, showcasing progress and providing inspiration to young achievers.

PM Modi Srinigar Visit: What Projects Will Be Inaugurated During His Visit?

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate 84 Major developmental projects valued at more than Rs. 1,500 crore. The projects that will be inaugurated include road infrastructure, water supply schemes, and infrastructure in higher education etc.

PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for projects like the improvement of the Chenani-Patnitop-Nashri Section, the development of Industrial Estates and the construction of 06 Government Degree Colleges, according to PMO.
