Parliament Special Session: Amid the ongoing special session of Parliament, the Union Cabinet meeting is underway, reports news agency ANI. The meeting is being chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.A meeting of the Union Cabinet is likely to take place at 6:30 p.m. today. The agenda is yet to be revealed but it is expected that the key bills listed for consideration during the special sessions is likely to be discussed.

On Monday, the parliament convened for the first day of the special meet. The proceedings of the house were conducted in the old building. However, the sessions of the parliament from tomorrow will be held in the new building.

PM Modi recounted the journey of Parliament right from the framing and adoption of the Constitution in 1950 to the abrogation of Article 370 while addressing the special session. He also added that the echo of nation's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru's iconic "Tryst with Destiny" speech will always resound and continue to inspire the generations of future people's representatives. He also added that the special session of Parliament might be a short one, but it holds great importance in terms of historical decisions.

While around eight bills are likely to be considered and passed during the session, the Prime Minister's indication of historical decisions has led to speculation over the actual purpose of the session.

Addressing the media outside Parliament before the commencement of the five-day long special session, PM Modi said, "It may be a short session, but it holds great importance in terms of historical decisions. It marks the beginning of a new phase in India's 75-year journey. The position at which the journey took 75 years was a very inspiring moment. And now while taking that journey forward, we have to make this country a developed country in 2047 with new resolve, new energy, new faith and within the time limit.
