PM Modi's US Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his "highly productive" two-day visit to the US on Thursday (local time), marked by key diplomatic engagements and strategic agreements. His trip, highlighted by a warm reunion with US President Donald Trump, reaffirmed the strong and evolving India-US partnership. This was PM Modi's first visit to the United States after President Trump's inauguration for a second term last month.
During his visit, PM Modi held high-level bilateral talks with President Donald Trump and decided to take a big leap in broad-basing their strategic ties in several critical areas, including defence, energy and critical technology. During the joint presser of both leaders, a US journalist asked PM Modi about the alleged bribery case against the Adani Group, to which the Indian Premier made a sharp retort, calling the case an "individual issue".
"May I ask whether you discussed at all today the case of Gautam Adani, one of the wealthiest men in Asia who is seen as an ally of PM Modi? PM Modi, have you asked to take action on that case?" the US journalist asked. Responding to the question, PM Modi said that the heads of two countries never discuss such individual issues.

Rahul Gandhi's Reaction To PM Modi's Response On Adani Case:
Reacting to PM Modi's response to the Adani case, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said, "PM Modi managed to put the curtain on corrupt practices of Gautam Adani even in the US". In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rahul Gandhi said, "When you ask [him] in India, he keeps quiet. When you ask [him] in foreign land, he says it is a ‘personal matter’".

"PM Modi put a curtain on the corrupt practices of Gautam Adani even in the US. When filling the pockets of a friend is ‘nation building’ for PM Modi, then bribery and looting of nation's assets will become ‘personal matter’ only," added Rahul Gandhi, who along with other opposition leaders have cornered the government on the Adani case in the past.

The Adani case stems from an indictment in the United States District Court in November last year. It charged prominent Indian executives, including Chairman of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani, by linking them to an alleged bribery scheme. However, the Adani group rejected the allegations made by the US Department of Justice and the US Securities and Exchange Commission against directors of the Adani Green and termed them "baseless".
