Dalai Lama Birthday: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended birthday wishes to the Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, on his 90th birthday. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Modi praised the spiritual leader as a symbol of love, patience, and moral discipline. The Prime Minister prayed for the spiritual leader's long and healthy life, further stating that the lama's message has inspired the whole world. The Dalai Lama turned 90 on Sunday, a prominent event for the followers across the world.

“I join 1.4 billion Indians in extending our warmest wishes to His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his 90th birthday. He has been an enduring symbol of love, compassion, patience and moral discipline. His message has inspired respect and admiration across all faiths. We pray for his continued good health and long life," PM Modi stated in his post.

The followers had started gathering at the Tsuglagkhang, where the Dalai Lama lives in Dharamshala, since June 30 to start the preparation for the big moment. Several cultural and religious programs have been conducted for the past few days to celebrate the spiritual leader's birthday. On his birthday, the Dalai Lama emphasised that he will continue to promote human values, further urging everyone to make this world a better place to live.

“While it is important to work for material development, it is vital to focus on achieving peace of mind through cultivating a good heart and by being compassionate, not just toward near and dear ones, but toward everyone. Through this, you will contribute to making the world a better place," Lama stated in a post on Saturday.

“As for myself, I will continue to focus on my commitments of promoting human values, religious harmony, drawing attention to the ancient Indian wisdom which explains the workings of mind and emotions, and Tibetan culture and heritage, which has so much potential to contribute to the world through its emphasis on peace of mind and compassion," the spiritual leader added.
