Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday condemned the White House shooting incident and wished United States President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President JD Vance continued safety. PM Modi's post on X came after a California teacher fired shots during the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner on April 25.

"Relieved to learn that President Trump, the First Lady and Vice President are safe and unharmed following the recent security incident at a Washington DC hotel. I extend my best wishes for their continued safety and well-being. Violence has no place in a democracy and must be unequivocally condemned," PM Modi posted on X.

White House Security Scare

According to Agence France-Presse and Fox News, the man tried to pass through security by approaching the magnetometer (metal detector) area near the main entrance of the WHCA event. The shooter at Trump's event was identified as 31-year-old Cole Thomas Allen, a California teacher. Cole was heavily armed, Trump said addressing a presser. He added that one officer was shot during the incident but he was saved.

The Secret Service stopped the shooter before he could enter the ballroom. A Fox News reporter, citing sources, said that the attacker targeted the magnetometer closest to the main door and fired at a Secret Service agent in the ballroom. Senior officials were evacuated and tight security was imposed at the venue.

Trump's Reaction On White House Incident

"Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job. They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we “LET THE SHOW GO ON” but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement. They will make a decision shortly. Regardless of that decision, the evening will be much different than planned, and we’ll just, plain, have to do it again," Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.
