Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed the abusive remarks made against him during a protest at Jantar Mantar, saying that such language does not solve any problem. He urged people to guide those who have made mistakes instead of responding with anger. In a video shared on Instagram, PM Modi said he was personally hurt by the remarks targeting him and his late mother, but appealed to society to show understanding and help young people find the right path. 

PM Modi Addresses Abusive Remarks Against Him

PM Modi said the remarks made at Jantar Mantar were inappropriate and did not reflect the values of a civilised society. He added that mistakes can happen in childhood and there should be an effort to correct them. PM Modi emphasised that instead of punishing or isolating those involved, society should guide them towards the right path.

"The country and the world have witnessed what happened at Jantar Mantar. Some mischievous children used very crude and abusive language, words that do not befit any civilized society. I was personally abused, and even my late mother was subjected to abuse. It was a truly ugly spectacle. However, I want to talk about the fact that mistakes happen in childhood, and childhood also offers the opportunity to correct those mistakes; that is simply the nature of being young," PM Modi said.

PM Modi Urges Society To Guide Those Who Make Mistakes

Using an example, PM Modi said that when the tongue gets hurt by the teeth, people do not break their teeth because both are part of the same body. He said the same sentiment should apply while dealing with young people who make mistakes. "They have lost their way, and it is our duty to guide them. Punishing them, dragging them through court proceedings, and harassing them in society, none of this will change the situation," PM Modi said.

He added"I want to forgive them. Society, too, should accept this. I hold only one sentiment in my heart. Sometimes, our tongue gets caught between our teeth and bleeds, yet we do not break our teeth; after all, both the teeth and the tongue belong to us."

PM Modi Calls For A Fresh Start

Calling for a fresh start, PM Modi said, "Abuses never solve anything. Let’s guide the misguided. Let’s work together. Let’s work for Bharat.” He encouraged the youth to learn from their mistakes, pursue their dreams, and contribute towards the progress of the country.

"Let us learn something new and learn from our mistakes as well. Let us set out to pursue our dreams.  The country is moving forward and is poised for further progress, and it is my dream that you, too, move forward. I live for you; I dedicate myself to your bright future. Come, let us move the country forward together. Learn from mistakes, and move forward," PM Modi said.
