Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reached Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari. He began meditating there from today, May 30 till to June 1. Ahead of beginning the meditation, the Prime Minister also visited Bhagavathy Amman Temple and offered prayers. He was seen wearing a white dhoti and covering his upper body with an off-white coloured shawl.
Notably, this is not PM Modi's first spiritual journey. He has been undertaking these journeys at the end of election campaigns. In 2019, he had visited Kedarnath, and in 2014, he visited Shivaji's Pratapgarh.

The influence of this rock on Swami Vivekananda's life was profound. It is believed that this rock had a unique significance in the life of Swami Vivekananda, much as Sarnath had in the life of Gautam Buddha. After travelling the entire nation in search of a mediator, he finally reached here and crafted a three-day vision of a developed India.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari is the Southernmost tip of India. According to mythology, Goddess Parvati also meditated at the same place on one foot as she waited for Bhagwan Shiv. It is also the meeting point of the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea. PM Modi is sending a signal of national unity by going to Kanyakumari.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his election campaign in Punjab's Hoshiarpur on Thursday, for the final phase of the general elections, which are set for Saturday. The Bharatiya Janata Party is eying its third term in office, and Prime Minister Modi has extensively campaigned for his party across the length and breadth of the country.
The PM kicked off his poll campaign for the ongoing Lok Sabha election in Kanniyakumari on March 16 this year. He held more than 200 election campaign events, which included his rallies and roadshows for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, in 75 days.
