The BJP on Monday slammed TMC MP Santanu Sen over his remark wherein he voiced his misgiving about the fate of the indigenously built Tejas aircraft in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a sortie on Saturday. Sen had expressed his apprehension about the said fighter jet getting 'crashed' on account of PM Modi having flown in it. The BJP dared West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC matriarch Mamata Bannerjee to expel Sen from her party if she had "even an ounce of patriotism and morality" left in her.

"I'm a little bit afraid when Mr Narendra Modi was very much there in the country, the ISRO failed. When Kangana Ranaut met Narendra Modi, her movie became a super flop. When Virat Kohli shook hands with Narendra Modi, he didn't get a century for 3 consecutive years. And finally, after winning 10 consecutive matches in the recently held World Cup, just because our Prime Minister went to that stadium, India got defeated in the final...I'm afraid that in no time this particular aircraft gets crashed," Sen had said.

Responding to the statement, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla stated, "While hating Modi and the BJP, today you are hating India's military and Indian Air Force so much that you are wishing them death. You are wishing for a crash of Tejas fighter jet. What has happened to Trinamool Congress? Mamata Banerjee, if you have even an ounce of patriotism and morality, you should expel Santanu Sen from the party with immediate effect."

PM Modi flew in a twin-seater trainer LCA aircraft which was delivered to the Indian Air Force (IAF) by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited last month. He was on a visit to Bengaluru to review HAL's manufacturing facility, including the facility for Tejas jets. HAL handed over the first Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) twin-seater trainer version aircraft to IAF in Bengaluru on October 4.
