French President Emmanuel Macron will today be landing at Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh International Airport. He will be attending India's Republic Day celebration as the chief guest. Before heading to Delhi, Macron will visit several heritage sites across Jaipur with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will go to Amer Fort, where a cultural program will be organised. The two leaders will go to Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Macron and PM Modi will thereafter hold a road show from Jantar Mantar to Sangani Gate with a brief halt at Hawa Mahal. Macron is likely to make purchases at a handicraft shop near the Hawa Mahal. Both leaders will use UPI mode for the transactions.

A private dinner has also been planned for Macron at the Rambag Palace.

Bilateral talks between the two nations will also follow after the event. A plethora of deals, including procurement of Rafale Jets and Scorpion submarines, could also be materialised between the two nations.

Earlier, the invitation for Republic Day was laid out to US President Joe Biden, who conveyed that he cannot attend the event. Macron, however, accepted the last-minute invitation and will now be attending the event as chief guest. Notably, PM Modi was the Guest of Honour at France's Bastille Day celebrations in July last year.

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari visited the Amber Fort and gave necessary instructions to officials.
