PM Modi Oath-Taking Ceremony:  PM-designate Narendra Modi is slated to take the oath of Prime Minister for a record third term on June 9, 2024, after the NDA alliance gained majority in the Lok Sabha elections. Earlier today, he was elected as the leader of the National Democratic Alliance in a meeting of all its constituent parties. The unanimous decision by the MPs paved the way for PM Modi to score a hattrick at the Prime Ministership.

Following the meeting, he called on President Droupadi Murmu and handed her the letter of support of 293 Lok Sabha MPs. The President invited the BJP leader to form the Union government and designated her as PM-designate till the time he was sworn in.

According to the latest report, Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi will take the oath of PM office on June 9, Sunday.

Here are the latest updates on PM-designate Narendra Modi's oath ceremony --

1. According to a statement by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President will administer oath to Narendra Modi and his council of ministers at 7.15 pm on June 9.

"The President will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the Prime Minister and other members of the Union Council of Ministers at 7.15 pm on June 09, 2024, at Rashtrapati Bhavan," the President of India posted on X.

2. Many dignitaries will adorn the Oath ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Among them are: Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Seychelles Vice-President Ahmed Afif, and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth.

3. According to the news agency IANS, sanitation workers, transgenders, and labourers who worked on the Central Vista Project will be among the special guests at the oath ceremony. The special invitees will also include the beneficiaries of Central government schemes and Viksit Bharat ambassadors, the agency added citing sources.

4. To bolster the security arrangements during the oath ceremony, Delhi Police declared the national capital as No-Flying Zone for June 9.

"It has been reported that certain criminal, anti-social elements or terrorists inimical to India may pose a threat to the safety of the general public, dignitaries and vital installations," Arora said in the order.

He further said, "In exercise of the power conferred upon me by section 144 of the CrPC prohibiting flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms like paragliders, para-motors, hang gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small size powered aircraft, quadcopters or even by para jumping from aircraft etc over Delhi during the swearing-in ceremony and doing shall be punishable u/s 188 of the Indian Penal Code," Police said in a notice.

5. A three-tier security system, including ground-to-air surveillance and enhanced vehicular checks, is being implemented for the oath-taking ceremony. Intelligence agencies are coordinating with foreign counterparts, while Delhi Police deploys personnel and conducts background checks. State borders will be sealed, and drone activities restricted to ensure safety.
