Pooja Khedkar Row: Amid ongoing controversy surrounding probationary IAS officer Pooja Khedkar, Pune’s Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital has found in its internal probe that there was no wrongdoing in the issuance of seven per cent locomotor disability certificate to her and that it was issued by rules. The investigation was initiated following allegations that Khedkar had used fraudulent means, including manipulating physical disability and OBC quotas, to clear the UPSC examination. The authenticity of her certificates is under scrutiny.
"The internal report confirmed that the certificate was issued following a thorough assessment by our physiotherapy and orthopaedic departments and the medical test conducted was as per rules and there was no foul play found. However, it has been clarified that the certificate would not provide any benefits in education or employment,” the hospital’s dean Dr Rajendra Wable was quoted as saying by the news agency ANI.
This came after the district collectorate had requested the hospital to investigate potential wrongdoing and file a police complaint if necessary. However, the hospital has clarified that it has not found any wrongdoing in issuing the certificate to Khedkar.
Earlier on Monday, the Pune court had sent Pooja Khedkar’s mother Manorama Khedkar to 14 days of judicial custody in the case relating to threatening a farmer. Manorama was seen threatening farmers with a licensed gun in a viral video and was arrested from Mahad in Maharashtra’s Raigad on July 18.

The two-minute video that went viral showed Puja Khedkar's mother allegedly threatening farmers over a land dispute in Pune's Mulshi tehsil. Pooja’s father Dilip reportedly purchased 25 acres of land in Mulshi tehsil. In the video, Manorama Khedkar, accompanied by bouncers, was seen arguing with a person about ownership of a plot of land while brandishing a pistol.
