A strange episode took place in an IndiGo flight on Saturday after a passenger attempted to open the emergency door minutes before landing. The passenger travelling in IndiGo Flight 6E-185, from Bengaluru to Varanasi, later claimed that he was "possessed by a ghost."
The passenger, identified as Mohammad Adnan, attempted to open the emergency door just 15 minutes after boarding the airplane. When the crew member saw it, Adnan said that he did it by mistake. The airline staff also warned him not to repeat it.
The passenger behaved normal for the rest of the journey until around 10.20 pm, just moments before the aircraft was about to land at Varanasi's Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport. With the plane 500 feet in the air, Adnan tried to open the emergency exit door once again. Officials said that upon being alerted by the crew, the pilot demonstrated quick thinking and aborted that landing attempt.
Following this, a go-around was conducted, and the plane landed at 10.35 pm. According to the officials, the passengers were stunned by Adnan's behavior and thanked the crew for executing the landing safely.
As per the protocol, Adnan was immediately handed over to the airline's security personnel and the CISF (Central Industrial Security Force). The police were informed, and a case was filed against him.
The man hailing from Uttar Pradesh's Mau initially claimed he had no idea about his unusual behavior in the flight. However, halfway through the interrogation he said that he was "possessed by a ghost."

During the routine interrogation at the police station, Adnan mentioned he was returning after vacationing in Goa and did not know that the handle he was pulling operated the emergency exit door, NDTV reported.
"Our investigation is on, and the accused is still being questioned. His family, which lives in Mau, has been informed, and they are on their way to Varanasi," said a police official.
In a separate incident on Saturday, Delhi Airport was placed on full emergency after an IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam, carrying over 160 passengers, made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport due to an engine issue.
The Delhi-bound flight, 6E 579, declared a full emergency at 10:39 AM, according to sources cited by PTI, following a suspected engine failure. The Boeing 737 safely landed at 10:59 AM, according to flight tracking websiteFlightradar24.com.
