Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana: Under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, solar power plants have so far been installed in nearly 1,800 homes in Sardarpur district. District Magistrate Anupam Shukla said the initiative will help households cut down on electricity bills while promoting clean energy.

Speaking at a one-day workshop held at Mahamaya Government Medical College auditorium, the DM announced a new target of installing solar units in 11,000 houses. He said that officials and vendors must step up efforts to spread awareness and speed up implementation.

The event saw participation from Chief Development Officer Anand Shukla, DIOS and BSA Praveen Tiwari, UPNEDA Project Officer, teachers, department officials and vendors. A special guest, MA final-year student Sakshi Vishwakarma, attended as “District Magistrate for a day.”

The workshop focused on explaining the scheme’s objectives, technical details and financial assistance available to beneficiaries. Experts made presentations on how solar systems work, their benefits and the installation process. Teachers and other participants also raised questions during the session.

The DM urged vendors to organise more awareness camps at banks, power substations, markets and other crowded places to ensure that people are informed about the scheme. He added that the Surya Ghar Yojana will play a key role in achieving energy self-reliance while providing relief to families through reduced power bills.
