Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor defended stand-up comic Kunal Kamra's 'Gaddar' joke on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, saying he does not play politics or have "ulterior motives". Kishor, while speaking to reporters, said the comedian is his friend, and he may have spoken about something that "caused controversy".
The poll-strategist-turned-politician asserted that people who think he is playing politics don't know that he would not do anything like that.
The comedian has no political rivalry and he is one of those who love their country, said Kishor, adding Karma may have chosen his words wrongly.
Shiv Sena demands (UBT) protection for Karma
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut demanded special protection for Kunal Kamra following the filing of three additional cases against him at the Khar police station over the controversial remarks.
Sanjay Raut said that just like Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut was given protection following her "rift" with Shiv Sena, Kamra should be provided the same.
"I also demand that the Maharashtra Govt should provide special protection to Kunal Kamra. Kangana Ranaut was also provided special force for her security when she had a rift with us," Raut said during a press conference.
