Presvu Eyedrops in India: The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has given its nod to ENTOD Pharmaceuticals PresVu eye drops. PresVu is the first eye drops in the country that will help in reducing the use of reading glasses for those suffering from presbyopia.

Entod Pharmaceuticals informed on Tuesday that it has received the nod to market eye drops for the treatment of presbyopia. The approval comes after an earlier recommendation by the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).

"This DCGI approval is a major step forward in our mission to transform eye care in India. PresVu is more than just a product; it's a solution that stands to improve the lives of millions by offering them greater visual independence," Entod Pharmaceuticals CEO Nikkhil K Masurkar said.

PresVu Eye Drops To Help People Affected By Presbyopia

PresVu is India's first eye drops that will help in reducing dependency on reading glasses for individuals affected by presbyopia, a common age-related vision condition that typically impacts those over 40. According to industry estimates, 1.09-1.8 billion individuals globally are estimated to be affected by presbyopia.

Presbyopia occurs as a natural consequence of ageing when the eye's ability to focus diminishes making it difficult for people to focus.

PresVu Eye Drops To Be Available In India From This Month

The Mumbai-based drugmaker has received final approval for PresVu eye drops, it will be introduced in the domestic market in the first week of October. The CEO of Entod Pharmaceuticals also spoke about the plans on out licencing it to other countries.

"The majority of the exports to the US are basically low-cost generics. We want to change that scene, because we don't get excited by that. What we get excited about is to do something completely innovative and be the global innovator, and then out licence to these countries. So yes, that is our future plan," Entod Pharmaceuticals CEO Nikkhil K Masurkar said.

PresVu Eye Drops Will Cost Over Rs 300 In India

A single vial of PresVu eye drops will cost Rs 345 in the market, according to some media outlets. One vial can last up to one month.
