Puja Khedkar News: The Delhi High Court is slated to hear on Friday a plea by former IAS probationer Puja Khedkar, who will be seeking anticipatory bail in connection with a case filed against her for allegedly faking her identity to avail extra attempts in the civil services examination. She has challenged a district court order wherein she was denied anticipatory bail.

As per a cause list published on the website of Delhi HC, the matter will be heard by a bench of Justice Subramonium Prasad. Last week, Delhi's Patiala House Court turned down Khedkar's anticipatory bail plea and directed the Delhi Police to find out if anyone from inside the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had helped her.

Additional Sessions Judge Devender Kumar Jangala had further directed the police to widen the scope of its investigation and find if other people recommended by the UPSC availed quota benefits without entitlement.

On Wednesday, the UPSC told the Delhi High Court that it would communicate to Khedkar by Friday the order by which her provisional candidature for the Civil Services Examination (CSE)-2022 was cancelled.

A high court bench of Justice Jyoti Singh was hearing a plea filed by the former IAS officer challenging the validity of a press release wherein UPSC announced the cancellation of her provisional candidature and also said she was permanently debarred from all future examinations/selections.

Disposing of the plea, the court granted the petitioner liberty to approach the appropriate judicial forum for remedy. Khedkar came to the limelight last month after allegations of misuse of power surfaced against the then-trainee IAS officer. She subsequently faced allegations of having submitted fake disability and OBC non-creamy layer certificates to clear the civil services exam.
