Pune-Bengaluru Expressway Project Update : The much-awaited Pune-Bengaluru Expressway is reportedly likely to be ready for operation by the end of 2028. The officials had earlier stated that the expressway is part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, and the estimated cost of the project is Rs 50,000 crore. It will provide convenience to the residents of several districts by cutting the travel time significantly and reducing traffic congestion. The officials had stated that the expressway will serve as an alternative to NH-48, and apart from cutting the travel time, it will also give a boost to the financial activities.
While providing details, the authority had stated that the expressway will pass through multiple Karnataka districts, including Bengaluru Rural, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Davangere, Vijayanagar, Koppal, Gadag, Bagalkot, and Belgaum. Apart from this, the expressway will also cover three districts: Sangli, Satara, and Pune. The authorities are carrying out the construction work, and it is likely to be finished by the end of 2028, reported 99 acres.
The authority had stated that the ambitious project is likely to cut the current travel time between the two cities from 15 hours to just 7 hours. The NHAI stated that vehicles will be allowed to travel with a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour, enhancing travel efficiency. The NHAI stated that the residents of these districts have been demanding the expressway for many years.
The project is expected to boost economic growth in these regions. It further stated that due to improved connectivity and infrastructure, the real estate sector will get a major boost. Though NHAI has not disclosed the full plan yet, the expressway is likely to be constructed along the second airport of Bengaluru. Apart from this, the authority had also stated that the central government is also planning similar projects in the near future to improve the connectivity.
