Punjab News: Doctors conducting surgery at a government-run hospital in Patiala, Punjab, were compelled to stop the process due to alleged ongoing power cuts that affected the operation theater's (OT) emergency lights. The doctors and personnel at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala are shown in a widely shared video standing around the patient while they undergo surgery, waiting for the power supply to resume since the electrical equipment was having problems.
One of the doctors, who was filming the video, expressed worries about the patient's health and potential hardship.
Nonetheless, Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh asserted that the hospital's power backup systems are "functioning without issue" and that the doctor had only "panicked and recorded a video". He stated that the hospital personnel must be "focused on patient care at all times."

The OT's doctor is heard in the 56-second video stating that the hospital frequently has these kinds of power disruptions. It was not immediately possible to determine when the video was taken.
"It is not the first time such a thing is happening (power outage). It's been 15 minutes since the power went out. The ventilator has also shut down. If anything happens to the patient, who will be responsible for this? The doctors? All the staff are standing here, the ventilator has turned off," the doctor says.
Mr Singh stated in a post on X that the hospital's "momentary loss of electricity" was caused by a local issue.
"The power backup systems at Rajindra hospital, Patiala are multi level (3 hotlines) & functioning without issue. The UPS and generator backup functioned seamlessly & the surgery was conducted without issue," he said, adding that the patient was recovering without any issue.
