Punjab News: In a significant reshuffle of the Punjab Police administration, the AAP government led by Bhagwant Mann ordered the immediate transfer of 21 IPS personnel, including seven Senior Superintendent of Police (SSPs), on Friday. The transfers were ordered by the Secretary of the Department of Home Affairs.

The decision comes barely two days after the Punjab Police expelled 52 officers, including constables and inspectors, on corruption accusations.

According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, who verified the officers' dismissal, the action involved 42 constables from various districts, one inspector, five assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), and four head constables (HCs).

"Black sheep in the police will not be tolerated," Yadav said at a media briefing.

He also revealed that over 400 FIRs had been filed against police officers throughout the state, most of which having to do with corruption.

“If there is evidence of misconduct against any officer, it will not be tolerated. Ten DSPs and eight SPs have also been suspended over allegations of malpractice. The state government’s approval will be sought for further action against them,” he said.

Yadav further stated that police authorities in all districts and commissionerates are examining the cases of officials who have been charged with a formal complaint or who are the subject of significant accusations, in accordance with the Punjab government's February 13 decision that emphasises responsibility, openness, and integrity in public service.
