Punjab Hooch Tragedy: Three men died after consuming spurious liquor in Ludhiana’s Sanyas Nagar on Wednesday. This comes more than a week after 27 people died due to poisonous alcohol in Amritsar. The deceased men have been identified as Rinku (40), Debi (40) and Mangu (45).
The three friends bought liquor from a shop in the Sanyas Nagar area on Noorwala Road and drank it in an empty plot. Soon after this, the condition of all three deteriorated, jagran.com reported. On receiving information from people, relatives rushed to the Civil Hospital but doctors declared 40-year-old Rinku dead, while his two friends were referred to CMC as their condition was critical.
Liquor Shop Shut Down
On receiving the information of the incident, the Basti Jodhewal police station closed the liquor shop along and registered a case against unknown persons. The board of doctors conducted the post-mortem of the bodies of the three on Thursday morning and sent the viscera to Kharar for examination.
In the initial investigation, the police and administration are considering it to be a case of suspicious death and are saying that the truth will come out after the medical report arrives, but the relatives of the deceased allege that all three died due to consumption of poisonous liquor because after consuming the liquor, the health of all three deteriorated and foam was coming out of their mouths, jagran.com reported.
Case Filed Against Unknown Persons
Devi's brother Kartar Singh said that his brother was a labourer. He has two daughters and a son. SMO of Civil Hospital Ludhiana, Dr. Harpreet Singh said that only the medical report will tell how the man died. SHO of Police Station Basti Jodhewal, Jasvir Singh said that on the statement of the area resident, a case of unintentional murder has been registered against unknown persons.
