Gurugram Shocker: Radhika Yadav, a 25-year-old state-level tennis player, was shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their Gurugram Sector 57 residence. Soon after, her father was arrested by the Gurugram police following statements by other family members. Police findings revealed that her father was battling with depression for the past 15 days over taunts for living off his daughter’s income from her tennis academy. He asked Radhika to shut down the academy, but she refused. Angrily, he fired three shots over the same dispute.
Radhika Yadav Murder: What Led To The Shocking Incident?
Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her father at their Gurugram Sector 57 residence. The incident occurred at 10:30 AM on Thursday in the kitchen of their Gurugram residence. Her father allegedly fired three shots at her. The Gurugram Police arrested her father upon statements by other family members.
Her mother, Manju Yadav, refused to give a statement to the police, stating that she was suffering from fever and had not seen anything, as mentioned in the FIR.
According to the initial investigation by the police, Radhika Yadav’s father, Deepak Yadav, was distressed over the tennis player running an academy. Their natives of Wazirabad allegedly taunted him for living off his daughter’s income from her tennis academy, which hurt his pride. He asked Radhika to shut down her tennis academy, but she refused to do so. Angrily, she was shot dead by her 51-year-old father.
“He wanted her to shut down the academy, but she refused. He finally shot her dead over the same dispute,” Assistant Commissioner of police Yashwant Yadav said.
According to the police, his father said in a statement that he was battling with depression over the past 15 days over criticism about her daughter’s earnings. In his confession, he reportedly said, “he could no longer bear the humiliation which had hurt his pride,” mentioned in the FIR, which was accessed by Hindustan Times.

Police Case Registered Against Radhika Yadav’s Father
An FIR was filed at the Gurugram Sector 56 police station, and an investigation is underway. Police officials are looking for other angles in the case, including the father's objection to a possible affair or a social media reel on Instagram. She often made celebratory reels with her father after winning trophies.
According to the police officials, Radhika Yadav was full of life and a bright athlete. She ran a tennis academy. She was a graduate from Scottish High International School, and back in 2018, she cleared her Class 12 exams. She recently suffered a shoulder injury and was undergoing physiotherapy. Though the injury had not deterred her from running a tennis academy or continuing to inspire young tennis players.
