Radhika Yadav, a 25-year-old rising tennis player, was murdered allegedly by her father in Gurugram in the early hours of Thursday. The initial reports suggest that the accused murdered Radhika due to his anger over his daughter's Instagram posts, especially short videos. The reports also suggest that the accused had fired five rounds of bullets at the deceased, adding that three of them had struck Radhika, leading to serious injuries. Radhika succumbed to the injuries while she was being taken to the nearest hospital. The police stated that an investigation has been ordered into the matter.
Who Was Radhika Yadav?
Radhika Yadav was a prominent rising tennis player known for her strength and agility. She had won many state-level championships and held 113th rank as a double tennis player in the International Tennis Federation (ITF). Apart from this, she was also ranked within the top 200 in the ITF doubles ranking, showing great potential at the young age. While she distanced herself from the sport for the past few months due to an injury, she continued to provide coaching services to the younger players, reported Jagran.Com.

Alongside tennis players like Poorvi Bhatt and Thaniya Sarai, she was considered one of the country's future doubles stars. Several tennis players and coaches, along with Radhika's coach, have expressed grief over her death. "She was focused, disciplined, and immensely talented. This is a huge loss," Yadav's former coach Manoj Bhardwaj was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Singh stated that the deceased's father had disagreements over her tennis academy and social media posts. "Today, at the Sector 56 police station in Gurugram, we received information from a private hospital about a girl who had suffered some bullet injuries. Upon police inquiry at the hospital, it was found that the girl’s name is Radhika, and she is approximately 25 years old. There was some dispute over a tennis academy being run by her," Singh stated.
