Rahul Gandhi Germany Visit: The LoP in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi's scheduled visit to Germany from December 15 to 20, became a fresh flashpoint between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress on Wednesday. The BJP termed Gandhi's visit as a "Bharat Badnaami Tour", accusing the Congress leader of using foreign platforms to "spew venom against India". Gandhi will visit Germany to engage with the Indian diaspora and meet German ministers.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Hits Back At BJP With Jibe At PM Modi

Hitting back at the BJP, Congress MP and Gandhi's sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, asked why they are raising questions on the leader of the opposition when Prime Minister Narendra Modi spends "almost half of his working time outside the country".

"Modi ji spends almost half of his working time outside the country... Why are they raising questions on the leader of opposition (in Lok Sabha) travelling?"

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi also defended Gandhi's Germany visit, saying, "The BJP and PM Modi do not have an answer to the question raised by Rahul Gandhi yesterday. Inside the House, the Leader of the Opposition raised a very important question about why the government changed the law regarding the deletion of CCTV footage. Why the BJP government does not want to make the machine-readable voter list public- these are current issues. Democracy is in danger. When the BJP does not have an answer to Rahul Gandhi's questions, their only recourse is to confuse and tarnish his image. They will keep doing their work. Rahul Gandhi and Congress will continue to raise their voices for the protection of the Constitution and the security of the common man's vote."

Balwinder Singh, president of Indian Overseas Congress, Germany, said, "The Member of Parliament and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi will visit Germany from December 15 to 20. He will be accompanied by Indian Overseas Congress Chairperson Sam Pitroda."

Permanent Vacation Mode: BJP's Poonawalla

With the Winter Parliament mid-session until December 19, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said Gandhi's decision to travel abroad once again shows his "clear priorities". "Rahul Gandhi has again proven that LoP means 'Leader of Paryatan/Partying'. He is a non-serious politician. People are on work mode; he is on vacation mode - permanent vacation mode."

The BJP leader added that Gandhi frequently escapes abroad, recalling that during the Bihar elections, "he was on a jungle safari" while others were campaigning.
