Amid the ongoing row over Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ramesh Bhiduri's unparliamentary words in Lok Sabha against Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Danish Ali on Friday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met Danish at his residence in Delhi. Soon after meeting the leader, the Congress leader said "Nafrat ke bazaar mein mohabbat ki dukan”. The Grand Old Party has demanded action against the Saffron Party leader who hurled abuses at the Muslim MP in the lower house of parliament.

Gandhi also shared two pictures on X (formerly known as Twitter) with the caption "Nafrat ke bazaar mein mohabbat ki dukan".

After meeting Rahul, Danish said that the Congress leader came to keep his morale high and that he is not alone.

"He came here to keep my morale high and to extend his support... He said that I am not alone and everyone who is standing with democracy is standing with me...," Danish said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Several opposition leaders have strongly criticised the remarks of the saffron party leader and have demanded action against him. NCP MP Supriya Sule and TMC MP Aparupa Poddar wrote to the Secretary-General Lok Sabha to initiate a privilege motion against  Bidhuri.

The BJP has issued a showcause notice to Ramesh Bidhuri for using abusive remarks against BSP MP Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha, said party sources as quoted by news agency IANS.

While speaking in Lok Sabha on Thursday during the late night discussion on success of Chandrayaan-3 and the achievements of India's space programme, BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri used abusive words against BSP MP Danish Ali.

Danish also wrote to the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla regarding the matter adding that it was "heartbreaking" to him as a minority member. Bidhuri's communally insensitive remarks, made during the discussion on the Chandrayan-3 Mission in Lok Sabha, have been expunged from the proceedings.
