Parliament Winter Session: Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi, while addressing the controversy of fellow MP Renuka Chowdhury's "those who bite sit in parliament" remark, claimed that the pets are allowed inside the legislature. He stated that the puppy brought by Chowdhury did not harm anyone, further asserting that the animals could be brought inside the parliament. While reacting to his remarks, the BJP leaders slammed Gandhi for extending support to Chowdhury by claiming that the Congress leader had endorsed the insult to the parliamentarians. A massive controversy sparked on Monday after Chowdhury brought a dog with her, further claiming that those who do harm were sitting in the parliament.
While talking to the reporters, Gandhi asked whether the dog did harm to anyone, further expressing concern over discussion over this topic. "Dog is the main topic today, I believe," the Congress MP stated. "What did the poor dog do? Did it come here? Is it not allowed?" he further asked. The BJP asked how the Congress leaders were comparing the parliamentarians to the dog. While reacting to Gandhi's remarks, BJP MP Sambit Patra asked both Gandhi and Chowdhury to reflect on their remarks.

"The decorum and dignity of Parliament were hurt by the statements made by Rahul Gandhi and Renuka Chowdhury. Both the 'Rs' need to remember that there is an R - 'responsibility of an MP'." He (Gandhi) did not specify anything, but the implied meaning suggests he was pointing to all the parliamentarians, including the Opposition, as well as sanitation workers, inside the House. The public understands everything," BJP Spokesperson Sambit Patra stated.
"Rahul Gandhi, we do not expect this from you. I hope that you go home and listen to Renuka's and your own statement and reflect on whether this kind of language suits you. With this kind of speech and behaviour, will the country accept or respect you?" the BJP leader further asked.
