I Was Extremely Worried About My Mother's Health: Rahul
After deciding not to visit Kerala on Wednesday, the Congress leader virtually addressed a rally held in Kozhikode, where he mentioned his mother's health, saying as a son he was worried about her health. I could not attend the rally in person as my mother was hospitalised in New Delhi, he added.
Last night, I was sleeping on a small sofa in my mother’s room at the hospital, and like any son, I was extremely worried about her health.

"Last night, I was sleeping on a small sofa in my mother’s room at the hospital, and like any son, I was extremely worried about her health. The whole night, I was comforted by only one thing. I was comforted by a nurse from Keralam who came in every hour to check on my mother. Every single hour, she would come and check on her. She would smile, and she would hold her hand. I found myself thinking about how many sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters have been comforted in their most difficult moments by nurses from Keralam," he said.
"Early in the morning, I asked her, “Do you sleep at night, or do you work the whole night?” And she said, “I work all night.” So, while the whole world sleeps, women from Keralam, not only in Keralam but also in Delhi, across the country, and around the world, are comforting people, holding their hands, and making them feel at ease. For me, this is the spirit of the state of Keralam," the Congress leader added.
What Have Doctors Said On Sonia Gandhi's Health?
A hospital official said earlier that Sonia Gandhi remains stable and under observation. She was being administered antibiotics, he added.
"Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Tuesday at 10:22 PM. She is stable. Doctors are conducting further investigations to check for possible infection in the stomach and urinary tract. A team of doctors is closely monitoring her condition, and antibiotics have been administered," a hospital official said.
As a precautionary measure, doctors decided to admit her for observation and further medical management. Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Chairman Dr Ajay Swaroop said that following a detailed medical examination, her bronchial asthma was mildly exacerbated by the combined effects of cold weather and prevailing pollution levels in Delhi.
