Railway Mega Block: The operation of 50 trains will continue to be affected on Friday due to the yard remodeling at Gorakhpur Junction. Meanwhile, 52 trains (26 up and down each) will remain cancelled.

Due to the cancellation of trains, problems of passengers travelling between Delhi, Maharashtra, and Bengal have increased. The biggest problem is being faced by those travelling to Delhi.

This has led to passenger strain on Gorakhdham Express, the only express running on the Gorakhpur-Delhi route. People were seen standing in line since morning to sit in the general coaches. The congestion inside the train is unprecedented.

Notably, today is the seventh day of yard remodeling at Gorakhpur Junction. On Thursday, a block of five and a half hours was taken from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm for pre-non-interlocking (pre-NI). During this time, the South and North railway lines remained closed. Resultantly, the operation of 45 trains was affected while 22 trains remained cancelled.

During the blockade, work was undertaken to make points for the third rail line. Notably, the work for the third rail line and its electrification is going on at a faster pace at the eastern end of the yard. Accordingly, the operation of trains from platforms seven, eight, and nine has been affected. The movement of trains from these platforms towards the Cantt Railway Station has been stopped. Trains are running for these platforms only from Domingarh and Nakaha Jungle.
