UP Weather Update: The weather is once again to take a turn in Uttar Pradesh as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, across 49 districts on Friday and  Saturday. The change in weather is likely to bring respite from the scorching heat. 

In the NCR cities of Noida and Ghaziabad, the weather department has forecast thunderstorm and lightning today and tomorrow.

The districts for which the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for thunderstorm and lightning on 18 and 19 April include Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Jaunpur, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Shravasti, Bahraich, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Anigrah, Etawah, Auraiya, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Jhansi and areas around Lalitpur.

Apart from this, an alert for light to moderate rain has also been issued for the coming days from today. The districts where rain can be seen today include Jaunpur, Ambedkarnagar, Pratapgarh, Amethi, Azamgarh, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabirnagar, Basti, Gonda and Barabanki.

11 dead in UP

Meanwhile, 11 people lost their lives in weather related incidents on Thursday. The IMD stated that strong wind and heavy rainfall led to the death of 11 people in several districts of Uttar Pradesh. The weather department also predicted similar weather for Friday and Saturday. The heavy rain and hailstorm damaged crops in multiple districts, and it also led to power outages and traffic disruptions.

Temperature in Last 24 Hours?

Moreover, in the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature in UP was recorded at 41.6 degrees Celsius in Fatehpur, UP, which is 2.4 degrees above normal. At the same time, 40.0 degrees Celsius was recorded in Bulandshahr, 39.6 degrees Celsius in Jhansi (0.1 degrees below normal), 39.4 degrees Celsius in Agra (0.7 degrees above normal), and 39.4 degrees Celsius in Kanpur. 

Similarly, the minimum temperature was 20.2 (1.4) degrees Celsius in Najibabad, 21.4 (-1.7) degrees Celsius in Prayagraj, 22.7 (3.0) in Kanpur Nagar, 22.8 (2.6) in Meerut, and 23.0 degrees Celsius in Ayodhya.
