In another update of the Indian Railways, the authorities have decided to launch CCTV cameras in coaches of mail and express trains to ensure the safety of female travellers. CCTV cameras are being installed in more than 11,000 coaches. Additionally, the Railways have also planned to install an SOS (Panic) button in all the coaches of the train. When any passenger presses the button in case of emergency, it will quickly inform the driver and security team.

The Executive Director (Information) of Railways, Dilip Kumar, said, “An integrated strategy has been made to control crime during train travel. In a recent review, it was found that intelligence gathering has increased through 'Rail Madad'. Also, initiatives like 'Meri Saheli' have increased the confidence of women while travelling.”
