Railways Fare Hike: The Railways on Sunday announced an increase in fares for long-distance journeys from December 26, further clarifying that the fares for the local trains have not been hiked. It stated that the passengers will be charged 1 paise per kilometer beyond the distance of 215 kilometers. Apart from this, the passengers travelling in the air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned coaches will be charged 2 paise per kilometer. The railways emphasised that the hike will boost its earnings by Rs 600 crore, adding that several projects are set to be announced in the upcoming months. The passengers travelling from Delhi to other key cities will also be charged extra from December 26.
Delhi To Mumbai Train Ticket Fare
The train distance between Delhi and Mumbai is approximately 1,384 kilometers. As per the hike, the passengers travelling in the general class (unreserved) will now have to pay an additional amount of Rs 14 more than the current price. Apart from this, the passengers travelling in sleeper and air-conditioned coaches will be charged Rs 32 more on their travels.
Delhi To Patna Train Ticket Fare
The passengers travelling in unreserved coaches will be charged Rs 10 extra on their tickets, as the distance between Delhi and Patna is nearly 1,000 kilometers. As per the recent changes, the passengers travelling in the sleeper and air-conditioned coaches will have to pay an extra amount of Rs 20 to Rs 25. The passengers are likely to be charged around Rs 1,400 after the changes.

Delhi To Lucknow Train Ticket Fare
As per the changes, the passengers will be charged an amount of Rs 5, as the distance between the national capital and Lucknow is 490 kilometers. However, the passengers travelling in the sleeper and air-conditioned coaches will have to pay Rs 10 extra for their travel. The passengers travelling in the air-conditioned coaches are likely to pay Rs 620 for their journey from December 26 onwards.
