Rainfall Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over parts of Assam and Meghalaya on May 2, 5 and 6. The weather department has forecast isolated heavy rains over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on May 2, Thursday. Isolated very heavy rains are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Tripura. Extremely heavy rains are likely over Meghalaya today.

Meanwhile, another Western Disturbance is coming, due to which snowfall and rain are going to continue in parts of northwest India from May 3. The regions of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh may experience intermittent light to moderate rain or snowfall along with thunder and lightning from May 3 to May 6, 2024.

Light Rain In Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Rajasthan

In addition, there is a chance of very light to light rain along with isolated lightning and thundershowers in West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, and Rajasthan from May 4–6, 2024. Till May 3, 2024, there is a chance of strong surface winds (25–35 km/h) in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi.

Storm And Lightning In South Peninsular India

There will be sporadic or light to moderate rain over the South Peninsula of India from May 5 to 8, along with sporadic thunderstorms and lightning over the regions of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal in South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe.
