Raja Raghuvanshi’s mother Uma Raghuvanshi has accused Sonam Raghuvanshi of misleading the investigators of the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case. The grieving mother urged Sonam to confess to her crime revealing the reason behind the killing. Raja went for a honeymoon to the northeast with his wife Sonam when the latter conspired with her lover Raj Kushwaha to hire three men to kill Raja. Raja’s body was dumped in a nearby gorge in the Sohra area in the East Khasi Hills district on May 23. Raja was killed by three hitmen, namely, Vishal, Anand and Akash, hired by Sonam and her lover, Raj Khushwaha. All the accused, including Sonam and Raj, have been arrested.
"She (Sonam) is misleading too much. She should tell the whole truth. She should be kept in custody until she tells why she killed Raja," Uma Raghuvanshi told ANI.
"I was asked about Sonam's behaviour. I told them that she stayed here for four days and performed all the rituals. Once, she had also served a meal to Raja and prepared coffee for him. I just want to ask - why did she kill Raja and what was his fault? Was marrying Sonam his fault? Why was my son given this punishment?" Uma Raghuvanshi said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

The Meghalaya Police's SIT on Tuesday reconstructed the crime scene as part of their investigations into the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi. The murder scene was recreated by the SIT team in Sohra in the presence of the accused, Sonam Raghuvanshi, and three others.
Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Vivek Syiem, said that the reconstruction of the crime scene was very successful as the police then "got a very clear picture."
