Rajasthan Accident: Ambulance-Army Truck Collision In Sri Ganganagar Leaves 3 Dead, Two Injured

In a tragic incident, three people, including two women, died while two others were injured after a private ambulance collided with an army truck on National Highway 62 in Suratgarh, Rajasthan, early Sunday morning.

According to police, the accident took place near 22 LGW village when the ambulance allegedly collided with an army truck head-on. As per initial information, the ambulance was carrying a woman patient who had been discharged from a Jaipur hospital.

News agency PTI cited police officials saying that the relatives of the woman were taking her home. The ambulance, coming from the opposite side, was overtaking a civilian truck when it came in front of the ALS truck near Kenchiyan town.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the ambulance was mangled, causing panic on the highway. The highway remained partially blocked for some time after the fatal collision.

The deceased have been identified as Laxmi Devi (26), ambulance driver Satnam Singh (26), and Mahendra Kaur (56). The injured, Ramprakash (32) and Rajveer, who sustained injuries, were admitted to a government hospital in Suratgarh.

A police team from the Sadar police station arrived at the accident site and rushed the injured to the Suratgarh Trauma Centre. The injured were administered first aid and transferred to another hospital for further treatment.

Army also issued a statement on the accident, saying the ALS vehicle was part of an operational convoy and moving in the correct direction when the ambulance, coming from the opposite side, attempted to overtake a civilian truck at considerable speed. The ambulance entered the wrong lane, leaving little time to avert the collision, it said.

"Tragically, three civilians lost their lives in this accident," the statement said. The army stated that personnel immediately rushed to provide first aid and ensured the prompt evacuation of the injured for medical attention.
