Jhalawar Road Accident: At least nine people died in a road accident after the van they were travelling in was rammed by a speeding truck in Panchola near Aklera, in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, police said. According to news agency ANI, they were returning from a marriage procession in a van that collided with a truck. Jhalawar Superintendent of Police Richa Tomar said that the accused was arrested and bodies were sent for post-mortem.

“Nine people died in a road accident in Panchola near Aklera, of Jhalawar district. They were returning from a marriage procession in a van which collided with a truck,” Jhalawar SP, Richa Tomar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
According to Dainik Jagran, the police said that the accident took place on Bhopal road, about 5 kilometres from the police station. As soon as the police reached the spot, they saw that many people were badly trapped in the van, following which they rescued them and shifted them to the community centre. Following the medical examination, doctors declared nine of them dead while one person was receiving treatment.

Earlier on Saturday, a bus carrying 21 police and Home Guard personnel, returning from election duty, overturned after colliding with a truck in Madhya Pradesh's Betul district. Several security personnel sustained injuries in the accident, following which they were admitted to Betul and Shahpur CHC for treatment. The security personnel were returning from Chhindwara and were heading to their home district Rajgarh after election duty for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Following the incident, the police have registered the case and launched an investigation into the matter.
