Amin Pathan Arrested: Amin Pathan, a general secretary in the Rajasthan unit of Congress party, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly misbehaving with forest department officials who had reached Anantpur village in Rajasthan's Kota district following information that a farmhouse owned by Pathan stands on forest land, news agency IANS reported. Following his arrest, Pathan was produced before a local court, which reportedly remanded him to judicial custody.

He was arrested from his house in Anantpur during the evening hours. Heavy police presence was deployed outside his house, as per the report by IANS. Later, the administration had to deploy a large contingent of Rajatshan Armed Constabulary and police personnel outside the court as well when several of the Congress leader's supporters gathered there while he was being produced before the magistrate.

A bail plea moved by Pathan was rejected by the court. An official cited by IANS said that a further decision will be taken after a regular hearing in the court on Monday. The FIR in the matter, which also names Pathan's wife as an accused, was registered on Saturday. According to sources in the police cited by IANS, the case was registered on the basis of a complaint against Pathan lodged by Forest Department Ranger Sanjay Nagar.

As per the FIR, a Forest Department team, along with Revenue Department officials and police personnel, was on Saturday visiting Anantpura, where Pathan has a farmhouse built on forest department land. The farmhouse was also surveyed and marked. However, Pathan allegedly misbehaved with the officials. He joined the Congress before the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections after he was denied a ticket by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was a member of the BJP for 25 years before his shift of political allegiance.
