Rajasthan Heatwave Alert: The extreme heatwave conditions in Rajasthan have already taken a massive toll on the health of the citizens with nine deaths reported in the Barmer, Balotra, Jalore and Bhilwara districts of the state. On Friday, the maximum temperatures in these areas soared to 49 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has expected heatwave to severe heatwave conditions in various regions of Rajasthan until Monday (May 24-28).

Phalodi recorded a maximum temperature of 50 degrees Celsius on Saturday, May 25. Whereas, Barmer becomes the second highest at 48.8 degrees Celsius.

The daytime high in Rajasthan, which is now the hottest state in the country, is predicted to be between 48 and 49 degrees Celsius on Sunday and Monday (May 26–27) in numerous districts, including Anoopgarh, Anta, Atru, Balotra, Bandikui, Baran, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bassi, and Bhadra.

Over the next three to four days, the temperature in Bajju, Baromadev, Bayana, Deeg, Hindaun, Kaman, Khajuwala, Kherli, Loonkaransar, Mahua, Mandawari, Phalodi, Rawatsar, and Rawla may rise to 50 to 51 degrees Celsius.

Based on the most recent IMD forecasts, Phalodi is expected to see maximum temperatures of 51.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday for the next few days. Over the weekend, Jaipur residents would also have to put up with highs between 46 and 47 degrees Celsius. Fortunately, after peaking on Sunday or Monday, mercury levels will decline in the majority of regions.

Red Alert In Rajasthan Till May 28

These forecasts have prompted the issuance of a red alert, which means "take action," for Rajasthan from Friday until Tuesday, May 24-28.

Meanwhile, Shubhra Singh, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, has issued instructions to ensure that all medical institutions have strong plans in place for the prevention and treatment of heatwave-related illnesses in light of the weather office's warning of extreme heat conditions in the state.

She has also directed that all hospitals maintain working fans, air conditioning, coolers, and water coolers and that all essential preparations for dealing with the heatwave must be finished in a maximum of three days.
