The Rajasthan High Court and the Kota Collectorate received bomb threat emails on Monday, triggering panic and large-scale security measures at both locations, police said. Police and security agencies immediately sprang into action and began searching the premises. So far, no suspicious objects have been found.
Kota Collectorate Bomb Threat Email
In Kota, the Collectorate received a bomb threat via an official email sent to the Collector’s ID, prompting an immediate evacuation of the premises. Collector Piyush Samaria confirmed that the email arrived around 7:20 am, with the sender claiming to be from Kerala and taking responsibility for the threat.
Following the alert, police, bomb disposal squads, dog units, and army personnel were deployed to conduct a detailed search of the Collectorate. Security teams also used metal detectors to screen vehicles in the parking area and carried out thorough inspections throughout the building to ensure safety.
The Kota Collectorate houses over 500 officers and staff and accommodates multiple important offices, including the Rural Superintendent of Police, Additional District Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Tehsildar, Food and Supplies Department, Civil Defence, Treasury Officer, Labour Department, and several courts.
Jaipur High Court Bomb Threat
Earlier incidents show a worrying pattern. On 5 December, the Rajasthan High Court in Jaipur received a bomb threat, and on 4 December, a Dargah and the Collectorate in Ajmer were targeted. In both cases, thorough searches were conducted, but no suspicious objects were found.
High Court police post in-charge Sumer Singh said the bomb disposal and dog squads are currently inspecting the premises. Judicial staff, lawyers, and litigants were evacuated as a precaution, and so far, nothing suspicious has been discovered.
Former President of the High Court Bar Association, Jaipur, Prahlad Sharma, criticized the situation, calling the security measures at the Rajasthan High Court a farce and highlighting the need for more effective protocols.

"The court has received three bomb threat emails in the last one and a half months, with no concrete action taken. Investigating agencies have yet to determine the origin of the emails. Repeated evacuations and suspended proceedings create fear and disrupt the hearing of cases," Sharma said.
