Two minor girls from Rajasthan's Alwar died of suffocation after being trapped in a locked car on Thursday. This comes amid rising temperatures gripping parts of North India under a severe heatwave. The saddening incident had taken place in the Khudanpuri area under the Vaishali Nagar police station.
As per the police officials, the two girls, identified as Tina (8) and Lakshmi (5), were playing outside their house on Wednesday afternoon. While playing, the two headed towards a car service centre and discovered a parked car.
The investigators said that the sisters entered the car and allegedly got themselves locked inside the vehicle. The closed windows, accompanied by the scorching heat, soon suffocated them. The two sisters then died inside the car.

Station house officer Gurudutt Sharma said the family and neighbours began searching for the children after they remained missing for a long time. The minors were then found to be in an unconscious state inside the parked vehicle at the service centre.
“They were immediately taken out, but by then both children had died due to suffocation,” Hindustan Times quoted the police officials as saying.
The girls were then immediately shifted to the hospital, where the doctors declared them dead. Police shifted the bodies to the district hospital mortuary and launched an investigation into the incident.
CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced online, purportedly showing the two sisters opening the door of the parked car and climbing inside while playing. According to local media, it was further claimed the children remained trapped inside the vehicle for nearly 30 minutes before being discovered.
How Did The Family React?
The victims’ father, Ramesh, told police that the family originally belonged to the Bedam area and was currently living in a rented house in Khudanpuri.
Family members said the children had already lost their mother four years ago, and their father had been raising them alone since then.
Relatives told police that the two sisters were the only emotional support for their father.
