Rajasthan Weather: The impact of the western disturbance in Rajasthan has subsided, leading to a rise in temperatures across the state. However, a new update from the Meteorological Department indicates that the weather is expected to change again in two days. Several districts may experience thunderstorms and rainfall as a result.
In the past 24 hours, daytime temperatures exceeded 41 degrees Celsius in 19 cities across Rajasthan. Ganganagar recorded the highest temperature at 45.1 degrees Celcius. Meanwhile, parts of Bikaner, Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions experienced thunderstorms and intense heat. On Wednesday, Anupgarh and Rajiyasar in Sri Ganganagar witnessed hail along with rainfall, while Udaipur also received rain.
The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and heatwaves in several districts of Rajasthan today. Thunderstorms and rainfall are expected in Banswara, Baran, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Kota, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Udaipur, Churu, and Hanumangarh. Additionally, a heatwave alert has been issued for Bikaner and Sri Ganganagar.
With the western disturbance now subsided, strong surface-level dusty winds are likely to blow across the border areas of the Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions starting today. As a result, temperatures in these regions may rise by 2–3 degrees Celcius. In eastern Rajasthan, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry from May 15 onward, with a similar increase of 2–3°C in temperature anticipated.
According to the Meteorological Centre, a yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms and rainfall in select districts on May 17 and 18. On May 17, rain is likely in Alwar, Baran, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dholpur, Jhalawar, Kota, and Pratapgarh. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for heatwave and dust storms has been issued for Sri Ganganagar, Jaisalmer, Hanumangarh, Churu, and Bikaner.
On May 18, a yellow alert for thunderstorms and rainfall has been issued for Baran, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Kota, and Pratapgarh.
