Rajasthan Weather Update: Rajasthan is currently experiencing highly unpredictable weather. While temperatures remain high in many parts of the state, a combination of dust storms, rainfall, and humidity has disrupted the usual summer pattern. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple weather alerts across the state in response to these conditions.
By May 29, Rajasthan had already witnessed five major dust storms an unusual occurrence, especially as not a single storm was reported last year. Wind speeds during these storms have reached up to 78 km/h. Experts attribute the increased intensity this year to moisture coming in from both the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, which has also led to rainfall following the storms. As a result, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has remained below 200, offering temporary relief from pollution.

Since March 1, Rajasthan has received 80 percent more rainfall than the seasonal average. Of the state’s 33 districts (as per the older administrative structure used by IMD), only Bikaner, Dausa, Karauli, and Sawai Madhopur have reported below-average rainfall. Ten districts have seen normal rainfall, while the remaining 19 have recorded above-average precipitation. The highest rainfall so far has been in Pokhran (Jaisalmer), at 33.0 mm. Meanwhile, Sri Ganganagar reported the highest temperature at 45.3 degrees C, and a heatwave was noted in parts of the Bikaner division. The lowest temperature was seen in Sikar at 22.5 degrees C, and humidity levels across the state ranged between 35 percent and 90 percent as per the 0830 IST reading.
