Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lost his temper at Opposition MPs while delivering a powerful speech on 'Vande Mataram' in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

The video from the debate shows Rajnath Singh being interrupted by Opposition lawmakers. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla gestured to the Opposition MPs to remain calm after Singh asked him to intervene.

"Kaun baithanewala hai? Kaun baithayega?" Rajnath Singh lashed out at Opposition MPs.

"Kya baat kar rahe ho...baith! Yeh himmat hogayi?" he furiously questioned.

Several BJP leaders were also seen gesturing at the lawmakers, asking them how they asked the minister to sit down.

Targeting Congress over its appeasement politics during former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s time, Rajnath Singh said the grand old party was responsible for the "fragmentation" of 'Vande Mataram'.

"Restoring the glory of Vande Mataram is the need of the hour and also a demand of morality. Justice that should have been done to 'Vande Mataram' did not happen, and unequal treatment was given to the national anthem and the national song," Rajnath Singh said.

“Injustice to Vande Mataram was not an isolated incident, but a beginning to the appeasement politics by Congress", he added.
