January 22 marked the end of the most awaited event, the Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha ceremony, in Ayodhya. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the rituals of the "Pran Pratishtha" event, following which the idol of Lord Ram was unveiled at the Shri Ram Janmaboomi Temple.
Several political leaders and famous personalities from all walks of life were present at the event. Not only Ayodhya, but the entire country celebrated the return of Lord Ram to his home. Let's take a look at how the celebrations in different parts of the country unfolded:
PM Modi Performs All Rituals Of Pran Pratistha
Donning a golden kurta and a cream-coloured dhoti, the Prime Minister walked inside the temple premises with a silver 'chattar' (umbrella) placed on a red folded dupatta. He took 'sankalp' for the "Pran Pratishtha ceremony" and later moved to the sanctum sanctorum for the rituals.
PM Modi also greeted Ram Temple 'Pran Pratishtha' program attendees in Ayodhya. Actor Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan, Reliance Industries Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, former PM HD Deve Gowda and his son HD Kumaraswamy are among the attendees.
Devotees In Nepal Lit 2.5 Lakh Oil Lamps In Janakpur To Celebrate The Occasion
Besides India, Nepal also celebrated the event. Devotees lit 2.5 lakh oil lamps in Janakpur, the hometown of Goddess Sita, to celebrate the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya on Monday evening. The ancient city where King Janak, Father of Goddess Sita used to rule had started preparing for the celebration weeks before. The city is glowing with lamps and colorful decorations celebrating the homecoming of the son-in-law.
PM Modi Lights 'Ram Jyoti' After Ram Temple Inauguration In Ayodhya
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday evening lighted 'Ram Jyoti' (earthern lamps) after the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of the idol of Ram Lalla in the newly-built Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The Prime Minister has urged citizens to light the 'Ram Jyoti' on the auspicious occasion and welcome Ram Lalla.
'Communal Politics', Says Opposition As Ayodhya Gets Ram Temple
Opposition leaders accused BJP of politicising the religious sentiments. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "Today only one person can go to the temple" after he was stopped from entering Assam's Batadrava Than, the birthplace of saint Srimanta Sankardeva. After his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was denied permission, Rahul Gandhi sat on the ground surrounded by supporters, who sang 'Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram' in unison.
