Amid an ongoing row over Ranveer Allahbadia’s contentious remarks on Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’ show, Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija aka the ‘Rebel Kid’ and YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani on Wednesday recorded their statements with the Mumbai Police.

An official from the Khar police station stated that the statements of four individuals, including Mukhija, Chanchalani, and the manager of Ranveer Allahbadia, but not Allahbadia himself, were recorded.

The two influencers have clarified in their statement to the police that the show is unscripted. According to them, both the judges and participants are encouraged to express themselves freely during the show. They also said that the judges were not paid for attending the show. Additionally, the judges are given the freedom to share content from the show on their personal social media accounts, as reported by news agency ANI.

Both Mukhija and Chanchalani reportedly told the police that the spectators of the show purchase tickets and the money that comes from the ticket sales is given to the winner of the show.

After growing controversy over Allahbadia’s controversial remarks on the show, Maharashtra Cyber Department on Tuesday registered an FIR against the show.

Allahbadia, better known as Beer Biceps on social media, found himself at the centre of controversy after a video of his controversial remarks went viral on social media and led to a debate on freedom of speech and what constitutes decency.

After an escalating row, he released a video apology, describing his comment as a "lapse in judgment." However, netizens continued to slam him over his ‘inappropriate and vulgar’ remarks.
