Revealing shocking details about massive gold smuggling involving Kannad actress Ranya Rao, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a chargesheet, stating that smugglers were able to peddle 127 kg of gold into the Indian market within a year. ED has included Ranya Rao’s name in the chargesheet of gold smuggling worth Rs 102 crore. With the help of a network involving local handlers and jewellers, the over 127 kg illegal gold was peddled into India’s local market.
Who Are Named In Gold Smuggling Chargesheet
Apart from Ranya Rao, the ED has filed a chargesheet under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) before the Special PMLA Court in Bengaluru against her alleged associates, Tarun Konduru and Sahil Sakariya Jain. Jai is a gold trader from Bellary.

Roa Arrested At Bengaluru Airport For Gold Smuggling
Ranya Rao was arrested at the Bengaluru airport last year while attempting to smuggle gold into the Indian market. Rao, who was carrying around 14 kg of gold, she had worn some while the rest were kept hidden in her clothes. Rao was intercepted by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) upon her arrival from Dubai. Suspicion arose after investigators learnt that it was her fourth visit to Dubai in just 15 days. She was intercepted only a few feet from the exit gate.
Was Ranya Rao Member Of Big Syndicate
Following her arrest at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at the flat where actress Ranya Rao lived with her husband. During the raid, authorities recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 2.06 crore and Rs 2.67 crore cash.
Highly Organised Hawala Network
The Enforcement Directorate's (ED) investigation has revealed that the gold smuggling operation involving actress Ranya Rao was part of a highly organised and structured hawala network. Proceeds from the smuggling were collected in cash within India and then settled abroad through established hawala channels.
Earlier, ED had imposed a Rs 102 cr penalty on Ranya Rao in connection with Gold and related smuggling activities.
